In memory of Dad, we are asking for funeral donations to please be made to The Alzheimer’s Society and/or Dementia UK. Dad attended several support groups held by Alzheimer’s Society. He particularly enjoyed his time spent with others who had also been diagnosed with early onset Dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society also provided Dad with companionship from a 'side by side' volunteer, with whom he enjoyed his walks and trips to the pub. The Alzheimer’s Society are currently offering much needed support (during lockdown conditions) to families and individuals who may be struggling with: a recent dementia diagnosis, care provision issues or feelings of loneliness and isolation during this period. We have also chosen to support Dementia UK as they fund a group of specialists known as 'Admiral Nurses' who provide tailored one-to-one support to families whose lives have been affected by dementia. One of their key aims is to "care for the carer" and they provided Mum with support and advice during some very difficult times. Please choose which charity you wish to donate to, or feel free to split your donation evenly between the two. Thankyou
