The day that Mick was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and when everyone was devastated, all he could think of was his family and how ‘they didn’t deserve this’. That sentiment summed him up. In many respects Chris, Alex and Hayley suffered as greatly as Mick during his illness and decline; as they all made inordinate efforts and sacrifices to support him and each other. Nobody could have done more for Mick than what Chris did, caring for him for as long as possible with utmost love and dignity. Alex and Hayley also assisted their parents throughout, often in the most difficult of circumstances. Whether helping with his day-to-day care, arranging days out, or stepping in to allow some respite for Chris. What a strong family unit they are and how proud Mick would be of them all. Of course, they were also so very grateful to the Admiral Nurses and the Alzheimer’s Coventry groups. Both of which were vital in helping Mick to live well with Dementia for as long as possible. The Harrison Family want to express our sorrow for the loss of a truly great man, who spent his life devoted to his family and to helping others. We hope this donation can support the respective charities in helping others too; families like Mick, Chris, Alex and Hayley in their time of need.
